The women's national team of Kyrgyzstan in freestyle wrestling will participate in a tournament in Russia.

Kyrgyz women's wrestling team will participate in the international tournament of the Ivan Yarygin Cup, which will take place in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports.

The tournament, which is the 37th in the series, will be held in Krasnoyarsk from January 29 to February 1. During the competition, 20 sets of medals will be contested for both men and women.

The tournament organizers reported that currently wrestlers from 16 countries have submitted applications to participate.

The composition of the Kyrgyz women's national team will be finalized later.

It is worth reminding that in 2024, Kalmyra Bilimbek kyzy, Zharkynai Nurlan kyzy, and Nurzat Nurtayeva won bronze medals at the Ivan Yarygin Cup in freestyle wrestling, while in 2017, the gold medal of the tournament went to Aisuluu Tynybekova.

The Ivan Yarygin Cup represents international competitions in freestyle wrestling for men and women, named after the Soviet wrestler, two-time Olympic champion, who also became a winner of world and European championships.
