Starting from January 20, a new rule will come into effect, according to which children under 14 years old will need a foreign passport to travel to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, as well as to partially recognized regions — Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This was reported in a material by Meduza.

The Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia had previously informed about this requirement back in October 2025. Children who left the country using a birth certificate before January 20, 2026, will be able to return to Russia with this document.
