Deputy Azizbek Tursunbaev reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh about the problems arising from the administrative-territorial reform, as a result of which some rural districts were merged, but the number of employees in the village administration remained the same.

According to him, the rural district in the Ala-Buka region now has over 53,000 residents, while only 14 people work in the village administration.

“Local residents complain that the staff cannot serve all those in need. Previously, 29,000 people lived in this area, but after the merger of three districts, the population increased to 53,000. This is confirmed by the district leadership. Now the employees of one village administration are performing tasks that were previously handled by three different administrations,” the parliamentarian noted.

In Tursunbaev's opinion, similar situations are observed not only in the Ala-Buka region but throughout the country.

He suggested that the government review the results of the administrative-territorial reform and increase the number of employees in the village administration in accordance with population growth.

By the way, as a result of the reform, the number of rural districts in Kyrgyzstan has decreased from 452 to 231.
