At a recent press conference at the "Kabar" agency, the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan (FPK), Muradil Jumadilde uulu, voiced alarming facts about the insufficient awareness of young people regarding their labor rights and the role of trade unions.
According to him, the FPK, together with the children's rights commissioner under the president of the country, initiated a series of open lessons titled "My Labor Rights," which took place in educational institutions across the republic. These classes reached about 17,000 high school students, which, in the opinion of the FPK chairman, is very important, as these young people will soon become students and then workers.
“Our goal is to convey information to them about labor legislation and the importance of an official employment contract. We encounter cases where victims come to us after workplace incidents. For example, one time a woman came with her 17-year-old daughter, who lost three fingers due to a workplace injury. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide assistance because she did not have an employment contract. Therefore, we believe it is necessary to educate children in advance about this important knowledge,” he emphasized.
