Kyrgyz citizens can install solar panels and sell electricity

The Deputy Minister of Energy announced the innovation at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Altynbek Rysbekov, the Deputy Minister of Energy, announced a new opportunity for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan: by installing solar panels, they will be able to sell excess electricity to the state at a rate of 4 som 42 tyiyn per kilowatt-hour.
A pilot project is currently being implemented in the Chui region, within which solar panels have been installed free of charge for 10 low-income families, and they have already started selling their surplus electricity.
Rysbekov also noted that NESK buys electricity at a fixed price from investors who develop renewable sources and then sells it to the population at lower prices. This has led to NESK expecting a budget deficit of 10 billion soms in 2024, and 2 billion in 2025. However, in 2026, the company is projected to break even.
