He has 24 victories in his professional career, including 12 by knockout.
Dmitry Bivol, a boxer from Kyrgyzstan, has become one of the nominees for the title of Fighter of the Year according to The Ring magazine.
At 35 years old, Bivol already holds titles from the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), and International Boxing Federation (IBF). His professional record includes 24 wins, 12 of which were by knockout, and one loss. In 2022, he was also awarded the title of "Fighter of the Year" by The Ring. In amateur boxing, Bivol made a name for himself by winning gold at the World Martial Arts Games and silver at the Universiade—both achievements in 2013.
Last spring, he lost his title when the World Boxing Council (WBC) stripped him of the belt for refusing to defend it against David Benavidez, who became the new champion. However, the WBO, WBA, and IBF confirmed that they do not intend to strip him of his titles, emphasizing the need to defend the championship belt.
In February 2025, Bivol returned to the ring, defeating Beterbiev in a fight that took place in Riyadh at the Kingdom Arena. This bout ended in a majority decision (114-114, 116-112, 115-113) and allowed him to reclaim the WBA title, as well as win the IBF and WBO titles.
The rematch between Bivol and Beterbiev was nominated for "Fight of the Year" by The Ring. The magazine's website also features other nominations such as "Best Female Fighter," "Knockout of the Year," "Round of the Year," "Upset of the Year," "Trainer of the Year," and "Prospect of the Year." The awards ceremony will take place on January 30 in New York before The Ring 6 boxing night, which will be held on January 31 at the famous Madison Square Garden.
