Nargiza Zhambylbekova, the heroine of our "Our People Abroad" section, currently lives in Turkey.

She was born on June 20, 1994, and lived in the village of Nurmanbet in the Issyk-Ata district of the Chui region until she was 16.

“I studied at M. Koibagarov School until the 10th grade. In our family, there are four sisters, and I am the eldest. At 15, we lost our father, and my mother became a widow at 32. It was a difficult time, but I decided to continue my studies. I understood that I would not be able to enter the medical faculty due to insufficient knowledge to pass the national testing. So, at 16, I moved to my grandmother's house in Bishkek and enrolled in a gymnasium with a focus on biology and chemistry. In addition, I studied for two years in chemistry courses and preparation for the ORT. I received good grades on the exam and was admitted to the medical faculty of KRSU, where I studied for 5 years to become a dentist, and then completed 2 years in clinical residency,” she shared.

Nargiza noted that she spent every summer with her mother and sisters, who moved to Antalya. She took on any job to save money for her education and personal needs.

“After finishing university, I worked in a private clinic. At 25, I got married, but a year later, our marriage fell apart. In 2021, I moved to Antalya, where I first worked as a nanny and then got a job in a local clinic in my field, where I worked for 3 years. I met my future Turkish husband on social media, and six months after we started communicating, we got married. His family welcomed me warmly. At the wedding, I received gold jewelry weighing 100 grams,” Nargiza shared.

She added that she plans to spend three months in Kyrgyzstan. “My husband speaks five languages and wants to learn Kyrgyz,” she noted.

“We like life in Antalya. We have family and relatives here, and the climate and comfort are also pleasing. The city is beautiful, calm, and the people are friendly. My husband works freelance, and I want to develop my blog,” she said.

Nargiza also talked about a Turkish custom: “There is a tradition here to kiss the hands of elderly relatives and place them on your forehead. I decided that this should be done always. However, my mother-in-law told me after a month: ‘Don’t kiss hands, this is only done after a long separation,’” the Kyrgyz woman reported.

“We got married a year ago and are not planning for children yet. In the future, I dream of opening my dental clinic in Antalya. I love to travel and have already managed to visit three countries, and soon we plan to go to Kyrgyzstan,” Zhambylbekova added.
