These sisters were born on July 16, 2003, in the Kochkor district of the Naryn region, and later they moved to Tokmok, located in the Chui region.
Currently, Zhanara is studying in Bishkek, while Anara continues her education in the Italian city of Cassino.
“There have always been twins in our family. My great-grandmother on my father's side had twins three times. When my mom was three months pregnant, her belly became noticeable, and an ultrasound confirmed the presence of twins. To avoid any bad luck, our parents didn’t share this news with anyone until we were born. Mom jokes: ‘When you were born, Dad sold a cow and threw a real celebration,’” recalls Anara.
Zhanara was born at 07:45 weighing 2700 grams, and Anara was born at 08:00, weighing 3200 grams. The age difference between them is just 15 minutes.
“In childhood, we were often confused, and we were called together ‘Anara-Zhanara.’ To avoid mistakes, people would say both names. Teachers, neighbors, and even relatives sometimes mixed us up. Now it’s hard to confuse us; we are even told that we don’t look like biological sisters. I loved wearing matching clothes, while Zhanara was shy about it. Now we have completely different styles. Neighbors remember us from a young age: we were very active and sociable. Everything we did—whether it was playing in the yard, at work, or at school—turned into a real adventure. I remember how we found a job: the owner turned out to be strange, and the work was harder than we expected, so we ran away. If I were to tell everything, it would be a real comedy,” shares Anara.
In their free time, the sisters enjoy toguz-korgool (Zhanara has the rank of "candidate for master of sports"), volleyball, drawing, and dancing.
They both strive to find their calling and become happy people.
“In our family, there are four of us: older sister Samara, brother Samat, and us, the younger twins,” she adds.
Zhanara studies at KGMA, while Anara continues her education at the University of Cassino in Italy.
