In the new episode of the "Zhubaýlar" column, we talk about a couple — Kyrgyzstani Begayım Alakunova and Russian Nikolai Shelekhov.

They are currently settled in Moscow.

Begayım shared that she was born in Bishkek in 1992.

“I moved to Moscow in 2015 as a migrant. At the moment, I spend time at home with my child. I previously worked as a manager in a food delivery service and graduated from the Kyrgyz Economic University,” she noted.

Nikolai, born in 1993 and raised in Moscow, first saw Begayım on her friend's social media page and decided to write to her.

He is one year and one day younger than Begayım.

“We dated for a year, after which he proposed to me. I liked his care, respect, responsibility, and sense of humor. I accepted his proposal, and my parents approved of our choice — they warmly welcomed their son-in-law,” Begayım shared.

They did not have a lavish wedding — after registering at the civil registry office, they celebrated the event at a restaurant with close family. Later, during a visit to Kyrgyzstan, they met relatives and even visited Begayım's hometown — the village of Komsomol in the Kochkor district of Naryn region.

Next year, Begayım's mother-in-law and sister-in-law plan to come to Kyrgyzstan.

“Getting used to the new life turned out to be not difficult, as my mother-in-law lives separately. My husband has always supported me, and I adapted quickly. After marriage, many interesting moments happened. For example, when my husband went to Kochkor, there were funny situations, and one of them stood out — he ran away to avoid seeing the sheep being slaughtered,” Begayım recounted.

Although Nikolai's family does not follow traditions, he shows interest in Kyrgyz customs.

In her free time, Begayım takes care of their child, trying to take him to swimming lessons and developmental activities. Starting in September, she plans to enroll the child in kindergarten and return to work.

The couple has many plans for the future; they dream of traveling the world and discovering new countries.

Nikolai dreams of buying a house by Issyk-Kul. He says he loves Kyrgyzstan and wants to spend his old age there: “When we get older, we will move to Kyrgyzstan.”

The family is raising two children.
