Project "Zheneke": Gulgaky from Nooken married a close friend of her older brother

Gulgaky Toktobaeva, a 25-year-old resident of the village of Rahmanjan in the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region, has become the latest heroine of the project "Zheneke."

She shared that her husband is a close friend of her older brother.

“My husband’s name is Meder Aliyev, he is 29 years old. We met through my older brother, as they were good friends. I saw Meder as an older brother. But one day he confessed that he liked me and suggested we get to know each other better to start a family. At first, I thought it was a joke and replied, ‘First, ask my older brother for his opinion, and then I will agree.’ However, Meder really talked to him, and in the end, we got married. I liked his determination. We are from neighboring villages,” noted Gulgaky.

She added that their communication over the phone was short-lived, and they only had two meetings— the third was the wedding.

“What I like about Meder is his patience and determination. We are happy and raising a daughter. Before marriage, I had never milked cows. My husband has cows in his household, and he helped me learn how to do it. Meder's parents accepted me as their daughter,” Toktobaeva shared.

Gulgaky recalled a funny incident from the early days of their life together:

“I prepared breakfast for the family, and while we were drinking tea, my husband announced, ‘Today we will eat manti. Your daughter-in-law cooks very well.’ In fact, I had never rolled out dough before. I left everyone at work and was alone. I kneaded the dough, but it didn’t turn out right: it was thin in the center and thick at the edges. Just at that moment, my mother-in-law returned. I quickly started shaping the manti, and when everyone sat down at the table, I served them, but they fell apart, and the dough turned out too thick. I felt embarrassed and apologized for the failure. But my father-in-law and mother-in-law praised me and said it was delicious. After that, my mother-in-law taught me how to make manti using her recipe, and every time we make them, we remember that incident and laugh,” she concluded.
