Elnura Kadyrbek kyzy, a resident of the village of Koachu [Kööчү] in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region, is successfully engaged in beekeeping. In 2024, she shared her experience and income from the business in an interview with a Turmush correspondent.

Her interest in beekeeping began after her marriage when she decided to engage in this with her husband. "I am 34 years old, I was born in Ichke-Suu and graduated from the local school. My husband is from Koachu, we have been together for 13 years and are raising four children. My father-in-law had a beehive, and my husband has been involved in beekeeping since childhood. I started participating in this process, learning," she said.

When they began living separately, her in-laws transferred about 10 hives to them to continue their business. Last year, they increased their number to 20.

From May to September 2024, the family transported the hives to pastures, which allowed them to collect over half a ton of honey. Among the buyers were both local residents and foreign tourists. "When the apricots bloomed, we moved the hives to Kichi-Orukta, then to fields with barberry in Jetiguz, and later to sainfoin fields in the village of Intymak. We collected our first honey there and then continued in the pastures in the Karkyra valley. Our 20 hives brought in 200,000 soms in income. We offered honey of four varieties and sold it at a price of 450–500 soms per kilogram," Elnura specified.

Honey buyers included Kazakhs, Russians, and tourists from Europe and America. "They noted the taste and aroma of our honey, which is given by mountain herbs. People bought honey eagerly. But, like in any business, there are difficulties. Bees require careful care: they need to be treated, fed, and provided with vitamins. Bees can get sick, and if an infected hive is not treated, you can lose all the bees. Our whole family takes measures to prevent diseases," she added.

In the future, Elnura plans to increase the number of hives and develop her business by attracting tourists to increase profits.
