Zhyrgalbek Mamytkanov, who has been working in the field of education for 26 years, lives in the village of Sary-Kamysh, located in the Ak-Su district of the Issyk-Kul region.

At the J. Subanbekov school, he conducts classes in drawing and labor.

“I graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the Issyk-Kul State University and began my career in Karakol. I worked at a school for eight years, and then I returned to my home district, where I continue to work,” said J. Mamytkanov.

According to him, he strives to distract children from negative influences by offering them to engage in craft work.

“I insist that the kids engage in creativity and labor. To avoid bad influences, children should be occupied with something useful. After classes, I invite them to my workshop, where we create various souvenirs not only from wood. They experience joy when they see the results of their work. The children also share their dreams and plans with me, and I try to support them as a father and educator. In addition, I work with the children of labor migrants and other vulnerable groups,” added Zhyrgalbek.

The souvenirs and dishes he makes participate in exhibitions at the district and regional levels.

“We work manually; we don't have machines. Some people ask to buy the products. I am considering expanding the production of wooden dishes, as there is a demand for them. If I manage to open a workshop, I will be able to involve more children in the craft. Instead of sitting with their phones, it is better for them to engage in something useful,” shared Mamytkanov.

He has three children.
