At Issyk-Kul, a church and a mosque were robbed, a Christmas tree was set on fire, and a Wi-Fi router was stolen — a young man and a teenager have been detained.

The police are conducting an investigation into the thefts committed in a church and a mosque in the village of Ak-Suu [formerly Teploklyuchenka] in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region.

According to the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region, on January 6, 2026, a report was received at the Ak-Suu District Police Department regarding an attempted theft carried out by unknown individuals in the church located in the village of Ak-Suu.

This information was registered in the crime report log of the Ak-Suu District Police Department, after which a preliminary investigation was initiated.

A forensic investigative team from the Ak-Suu District Police Department was dispatched to the scene. During the inspection, it was established that the lock on the church's front door had been broken, and the decorated New Year tree inside had been set on fire using an oily liquid intended for lighting lamps. Two donation boxes were also broken into, and cash was stolen from them.

Additionally, 10 New Year gift bags were stolen from the church shop, along with 2 silver chains, 5–6 silver rings, and 12–15 silver crosses from a box. It was also established that a Wi-Fi router had been ripped out and stolen from the same room.

Furthermore, the suspects broke into two donation boxes in the mosque of the village of Ak-Suu and stole the cash inside, as well as smashed the windows of two cars and stole small items from the interiors.

In connection with this incident, materials have been registered in the Crime Registration Book of the Ak-Suu District Police Department, and a criminal case has been initiated under paragraph 4 of part 3 of article 205 ("Theft committed with penetration into a residential, service, or other premises or vehicle") of the Criminal Code.
As a result of operational-search activities conducted by the officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ak-Suu District Police Department, as well as using surveillance cameras, the suspects were apprehended in hot pursuit with the stolen material evidence.

They turned out to be residents of the Ak-Suu district – a minor N.A., born in 2010, and a previously convicted V.A., born in 2003.

Based on articles 96–97 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative activities are ongoing.
