A driver of a truck has been detained in the Issyk-Ata district, who is suspected of causing a fatal hit-and-run involving a teenager. The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region reported this incident.
The traffic accident occurred on January 1 at around 00:50 on the 23rd kilometer of the internal road Bishkek–Torugart. A red truck hit a cyclist and then fled the scene. Unfortunately, the teenager, who sustained serious injuries, died at the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning violations of traffic safety rules. During operational activities, it was established that the truck of the SHACMAN brand, red in color, was involved in the accident.
The suspect is a 28-year-old citizen R.B., a resident of the village of Krasnaya-Rechka, who is currently in custody at a temporary detention facility.
It has been established that the deceased was 13-year-old N.A., who lived in the village of Dmitrievka. On the night of the tragedy, he rode his bicycle to the city of Kant to meet friends. While riding along the edge of the roadway towards the city, he was struck by the truck that had moved into the third lane, closer to the shoulder.
The investigation is ongoing.
