According to law enforcement agencies, the accident occurred on December 27 at around 11:00 PM on 7th April Street. The driver, R. M., born in 2004, was driving a Hyundai Sonata when he struck pedestrian K. A., born in 1995, who was crossing the road from east to west, in front of the "Anel" restaurant.
After the accident, the driver left the scene; however, as a result of operational measures, he was identified and detained. The suspect was taken to the investigative department of the Bishkek City Police.
The pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries, died at the scene of the accident.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning violations of traffic safety rules. The driver has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police as a suspect in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Medical examination confirmed that the driver was in a state of alcohol intoxication.
At this time, the vehicle has been placed in a specialized impound lot, and examinations have been appointed, the results of which will determine further procedural decisions.
