
The editorial office requested comments from law enforcement agencies. The press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region reported that on January 6, 2026, a report of theft from a church located in the village of Ak-Suu was received by the Internal Affairs Office of the Ak-Suu district. The information was registered, and a preliminary investigation was initiated.
The investigative-operational group promptly arrived at the scene. During the inspection, it was established that the entrance door of the church had been broken, and the Christmas tree was set on fire using flammable liquid. Two donation boxes were also smashed, from which money was stolen.
From the church shop, 10 gift bags, two silver chains, 5–6 silver rings, and 12–15 silver crosses went missing. Additionally, the perpetrators stole a Wi-Fi router installed in the premises.
During further operational activities, it was found that the same individuals also committed thefts at the mosque in the village of Ak-Suu, where donation boxes were broken into. The windows of two cars were also smashed, and small items disappeared from them. All these facts were registered in the Unified Register of the Internal Affairs Office of the Ak-Suu district.
A criminal case was initiated regarding this incident under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of the conducted operational-search activities, as well as with the help of surveillance cameras installed as part of the "Safe and Digital Country" project, law enforcement officers detained the suspects with the stolen items.
The detainees turned out to be residents of the Ak-Suu district:
N. A., born in 2010;
V. A., born in 2003, who had a previous conviction.
In accordance with Articles 96–97 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the suspects were placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that information about the robberies continues to spread on social networks, without clarifying that the suspects have already been detained. In this regard, law enforcement agencies urged leaders of diasporas and local communities to share complete and verified information, including details about the arrests.
