
In the updated military power ranking compiled by the military analytical portal Global Firepower, Kyrgyzstan ranked 109th. This ranking covers 145 countries and takes into account more than 60 different parameters, such as army size, military expenditures, number of equipment, and level of logistical support. Compared to last year's ranking, where the republic held the 105th position, Kyrgyzstan has dropped four places.
According to Global Firepower data for 2026, Kyrgyzstan's defense budget amounts to $654 million. The total number of military personnel reaches 78,000, of which 23,000 are active servicemen, while the remaining 55,000 are part of paramilitary formations.
The country's armed forces have 7 helicopters, including 2 combat helicopters, as well as 215 tanks, 30 self-propelled artillery units, 174 towed artillery units, and 21 multiple launch rocket systems.
In Central Asia, Uzbekistan holds the highest position in the ranking at 53rd place. Kazakhstan is in 58th place, followed by Turkmenistan at 78th, and Tajikistan closes the list at 100th place.
Among the countries with the greatest military power, the United States ranks first, Russia second, and China third. At the end of the list are the Central African Republic, Belize, and Bhutan.
