An online meeting of the expert group working on the revision of the draft plan for joint actions of the CIS countries to combat the spread of tuberculosis for the period from 2027 to 2030 was held. Specialists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the discussion, reviewing the measures proposed in the draft.

The document is based on an analysis of the current epidemiological situation and forecasts for the development of the tuberculosis situation in the CIS until 2030.

The agreement among the CIS countries aims to reduce tuberculosis morbidity by 20% and mortality by 35% compared to 2015 data, as well as to ensure complete coverage of all patients with this disease with medical and social benefits.

According to the Commonwealth Executive Committee, the main task of the document is to strengthen cooperation to reduce the burden of tuberculosis in society. Scientists and specialists from the CIS countries plan to improve prevention methods, especially among high-risk groups, as well as develop unified approaches to the early detection of all forms of the disease and ensure access to drug resistance testing, including for migrants.

Particular attention will be paid to the quality of treatment for people with various forms of tuberculosis. The parameters of the plan include enhancing the qualifications of doctors and nursing staff, especially at the primary healthcare level, in matters of early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of tuberculosis patients.

Participants emphasized the importance of expanding the capacity of educational centers collaborating with WHO in the CIS countries and discussed the possibility of organizing online training courses with the WHO European Regional Office.
