During the discussion, representatives of both countries addressed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of health, including the exchange of experience in disease prevention, training of medical personnel, and the implementation of modern technologies in medicine. The minister noted that there are significant opportunities for deepening the partnership between the U.S. and Kyrgyzstan, which will help strengthen the healthcare system.
The meeting also mentioned the development of a medical city project in Bishkek, which involves the procurement of modern medical and laboratory equipment from leading American manufacturers. An important aspect is the interest in internships and professional development for Kyrgyz specialists in the U.S.
The American side noted that cooperation in the field of health has been ongoing since the mid-1990s and covers programs such as the fight against HIV, tuberculosis, and ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety. In this regard, the U.S. proposed to formalize further cooperation in the form of a memorandum, which will outline priority areas for the coming years.
According to the memorandum plan, the U.S. intends to focus on three key areas: ensuring access to services and medications for people living with HIV; supporting the national tuberculosis control program; and strengthening sanitary and epidemiological preparedness.
The minister reported that the draft memorandum is currently undergoing interdepartmental coordination and is analyzing financial, legal, tax, customs, and institutional aspects. Upon completion of this procedure, consolidated comments will be sent to the American side through official channels.
Both parties expressed their readiness to continue joint work in the field of health, epidemiological safety, infrastructure modernization, commercial cooperation, and training of medical personnel.
