Talgat Baisufinov has officially been appointed as the head coach of the Kazakhstan national football team. This was announced in a statement from the press service of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF), made after he successfully fulfilled the duties of acting head coach for several months. For the 61-year-old Baisufinov, this marks his third return to the role of mentor for the national team: he previously led it during the periods of 2016–2017 and 2020–2022.
Baisufinov began his duties at the end of September 2025, replacing Ali Aliev. Initially, he was considered as a temporary coach to complete the qualifying cycle, while the federation was exploring options for inviting foreign specialists. However, the successful results of the team changed this decision. Under his leadership, the Kazakhstan team achieved a convincing victory over Liechtenstein with a score of 4:0, and also drew with strong teams: 1:1 against North Macedonia and the star-studded Belgium team. These successes convinced the KFF to offer Baisufinov a full contract.
Fans are well acquainted with Baisufinov's coaching style, as he has previously worked with the clubs "Irtysh," "Aksu," "Akzhayik," and "Esil-Bogatyr."
