Five years at the helm of the state: how Kyrgyzstan has changed under Sadyr Japarov
Political scientists note that the reforms being implemented in the country affect all aspects of state governance and are already yielding results. Major projects are developing in the industrial and infrastructure sectors, both of regional and international significance.

Serious changes have occurred that can be characterized as tectonic shifts. Public and political figure Zainidin Kurmanov emphasizes that these reforms affect all spheres and are not fragmented. “The transition to a new Constitution and the change of priorities in governance are key points. Corruption and bureaucracy are gradually being eliminated, while executive discipline is increasing. Kyrgyzstan is becoming an important link on the East-West route. It is important not to forget that railway networks are developing throughout Central Asia, and we are participating in a global process that is changing the geopolitical situation on the continent,” he says.

The nationalization of the Kumtor mine is also of great importance. Now this facility operates in the interests of the people, and we realize how we were deceived under previous regimes. Significant changes are observed in the energy sector, including the construction of hydropower plants, among which the largest in the region is Kambar-Ata – 1, implemented in cooperation with neighboring countries.

An important international project is the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway. The construction of this line has already begun, and in a few years, after its launch, Kyrgyzstan will emerge from a transport deadlock, ensuring additional revenue to the budget and integration into the global trade system.

Thanks to the political will of Sadyr Japarov, it has been possible to resolve territorial disputes with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which has become a significant achievement. The resolution of border issues has strengthened ties with neighbors and created conditions for stability and prosperity in the region.

The country's economy has been brought out of the gray zone thanks to improved tax administration and the introduction of cash registers. Over five years, the budget has tripled, allowing for increased salaries for medical workers and teachers, while minimum pensions have for the first time exceeded the subsistence minimum. However, inflation rates remain high, requiring additional measures to improve citizens' welfare.

A key factor is the support of the citizens that the current president enjoys. People feel the changes and believe in their leader, hoping that the outlined course for development will strengthen the state and improve the quality of life,” concludes Zainidin Kurmanov.

The effectiveness of governance has increased, and Kyrgyzstan is now perceived as a dynamically developing state, notes former Foreign Minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov.

Summarizing the five-year rule of Sadyr Japarov, it can be confidently said that the country has changed for the better. Domestic and foreign policies have become more systematic, with an emphasis on the interests of the state and the welfare of the people.

It is also worth noting the issue of internal security. The strengthening of the state has been made possible by the neutralization of criminal structures that in the past threatened both economic development and political stability.

External security has also strengthened due to the resolution of border issues with neighboring countries. Strengthening relations with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has significantly improved the situation in the region. Leaders who contribute to establishing peace and prosperity in Central Asia have been awarded the "Peace Prize," and Sadyr Japarov's contribution to this achievement is significant.

Strengthening statehood and institutions of power, the introduction of the People's Kurultai, and reforms of the electoral system confirm the effectiveness of the authorities' actions. Kyrgyzstan is on the path to creating a new developed society with strong governance institutions.

Indicators of economic growth also testify to positive changes. In terms of GDP growth rates, Kyrgyzstan ranks third in the world, demonstrating the best results among the SCO, EAEU, and CIS countries. The country is moving forward at a good pace.

As a specialist in international relations, I note that Kyrgyzstan has significantly strengthened its position on the international stage, and the country is spoken of with respect, attracting the attention of investors,” concludes Alikbek Jekshenkulov.

Over the past five years, Kyrgyzstan has undergone significant changes that in other historical contexts could have taken several decades. Today we observe progress and development; the country has strengthened and become economically resilient.
