Since January 31, a partial shutdown of the federal government has begun in the United States. This occurred due to the lack of approved funding for several departments, despite the fact that the U.S. Senate had approved spending bills for the remainder of the fiscal year the day before.

American media report that the documents approved by the Senate have not yet been reviewed by the House of Representatives, which is currently on recess. The next session of the lower chamber is scheduled for February 2. Until that time, funding for some federal agencies will remain suspended.

Particular attention is drawn to the funding of the Department of Homeland Security, which is responsible for immigration and border services. The dispute over this block has become the main reason for the current partial shutdown.

Experts suggest that the work stoppage may turn out to be short-term. If the House of Representatives approves the corresponding package of bills and the president signs it, funding for federal agencies could be restored in the coming days.
