The Jogorku Kenesh Committee approved bills on gender equality and the judicial system

The aim of these documents is to ensure equal rights for men and women, as well as to improve the balance in the judicial system.

On January 20, the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh responsible for constitutional legislation, local self-government, and regulations held the second reading of two bills related to the judicial system and gender equality.

One of the bills proposes amendments to the legislation concerning the Justice Council, the Supreme Court, and local courts, while the other aims to ensure equal rights and opportunities for men and women.

Kamila Talieva, one of the initiators of these initiatives, emphasized that the changes are aimed at creating equal conditions for all citizens, regardless of their gender, in various spheres, including politics, economy, and culture.

During the discussion, Deputy Kubanychbek Samakov noted that professional competence should remain the main criterion for appointing judges. Deputy Chyngyz Azhibaev also expressed the need to support the bills, drawing attention to the current state of the judicial system.

Chairman of the Justice Council Aibek Moldakunov reported that men make up 58% of judges in the Supreme Court, highlighting the need for a more balanced approach to the formation of judicial bodies.

As a result of the discussion, the committee unanimously supported both bills and forwarded them for further consideration.
