For the first time in 88 years, the Gallup Institute has decided to stop measuring the approval rating of the U.S. president. This decision is related to changes in the organization's approach to public research and analytics. A representative of the institute stated that Gallup will focus on other aspects of its work, reflecting the "evolution" of their research, as reported by Axios.

Historically, leader ratings have always played an important role in Gallup's activities; however, as noted in the official statement, the conditions for using this data have changed.

Currently, approval ratings are becoming widely available and interpretable, which reduces Gallup's ability to make a significant contribution in this area.

The last approval rating for President Donald Trump, published in December, was 36 percent. In response to Axios's question about the potential influence of political pressure on this decision, institute representatives assured that this change is a "strategic shift" driven solely by Gallup's scientific goals and priorities.
