Dastan Bekeshev: "God does not reveal the cards to us"

In a recent interview with VB.KG, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev discussed the current situation in the country and parliament, as well as explained why traditional forecasts in Kyrgyz politics often turn out to be ineffective.

- Dastan Dalabaevich, how do you assess the situation considering the recent events? What is the atmosphere in the country and in parliament?

- At the moment, everything is stable in the country and in parliament. The procedure for electing the speaker is proceeding predictably: parliament supports the proposed candidates. Therefore, we can say that no serious upheavals are occurring.

As for attempts to make forecasts, it is a thankless task. Too many factors remain unknown. We have a philosopher and economist, Nassim Taleb, who introduced the term "black swan." He argues that predictions are generally erroneous. And I completely agree with him. In our country, it is especially difficult to anticipate the development of events.

- Are you referring to the unexpected recent personnel changes?

- That's right. What happened on February 10 was a shock for many. Many expected such events either before the presidential elections or after them, but no one anticipated that it would happen so soon. Frankly speaking, the pace of events caught me off guard.

Therefore, making plans for the future is a futile endeavor, as only God knows what will happen tomorrow. At this moment, tomorrow remains a mystery, and no one reveals their cards to us. So we live in the present.
