The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced a temporary ban on the export of ferrous metal scrap and metal ingots intended for remelting. This decision is the result of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 375, issued on November 14, 2022.

According to the adopted document, the export of metal scrap and charge ingots (according to the EAEU code TEI TN 7204) will be prohibited for a period of six months. The ban will come into effect three days after the official publication of the relevant resolution.

As reported by the government, this measure is necessary to protect local processing enterprises and stabilize the situation in the raw materials market.

The restriction complies with the norms of the EAEU agreement and is aimed at preventing the uncontrolled export of strategically important raw materials from the country.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce will inform the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of this ban within three days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also required to notify the Executive Committee of the CIS.

The State Customs Service and the Border Service have been instructed to strengthen control and prevent any attempts at the illegal export of metal scrap beyond the borders of Kyrgyzstan.

The previous resolution No. 554, which was in effect since September 3, 2025, and regulated the temporary ban, has lost its validity.
