Nurzhamal Torobekova, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, proposed to introduce a rule requiring future spouses to undergo medical examinations before marriage registration. This statement was made at a meeting of the parliamentary committee dealing with labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues.

As an example, Torobekova cited the experience of Uzbekistan: “In this country, young couples have been required for many years to undergo tests for HIV, hepatitis, and other diseases before the wedding, and only after that can they get married.”

In the deputy's opinion, such an initiative will help prevent the transmission of infections among spouses. She also emphasized the problems related to migration.

“There are situations where our young people get infected in cities like Moscow. Parents, even knowing about their son's illness, do not inform the bride, and as a result, the wedding takes place. This leads to the infection being transmitted to the wife, and she also becomes ill,” noted Nurzhamal Torobekova.

It should be noted that currently, the deputies in the relevant committee are discussing information from the Ministry of Health regarding the prevention and epidemiological situation related to hepatitis in the country.
