Marlen Mamataliyev, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, managed to resolve the conflict between deputies Mederbek Aliyev and Ulukbek Karybek uulu, as reported by the parliamentary press service.

He emphasized that the Jogorku Kenesh should be a place for open discussions and diverse opinions when discussing legislative proposals. At the same time, the speaker pointed out the need to adhere to parliamentary ethics and current legislation during such discussions.

Disagreements between the deputies arose on March 3 during a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, when Mederbek Aliyev proposed introducing stricter measures in the fight against drugs, including advertising synthetic substances and pharmacy-related drug addiction.

The conflict escalated when Ulukbek Karybek uulu pointed out shortcomings in the justification report for the bill. In response, Mederbek Aliyev urged him to "stop engaging in populism" and "leave blogging." To which Karybek uulu reminded that he represents the interests of the people and has the same rights as the vice-speaker. As a result of the exchange of opinions, there were mutual accusations of "trying to score cheap points."
