At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, announced his goal — to provide benefits to all children under the age of 16.

This initiative was a response to the comment made by deputy Dastan Bekeshev, who emphasized that the decision to provide benefits for children under three years old was met with approval from the population. He also noted that taking care of multiple children can become a financial burden for families, as the contributions to the OTR, ranging from 400 to 700 soms, can be difficult to pay. The deputy called for support for such families.

The president recalled that during Soviet times, benefits were given to all children under 16 regardless of their parents' financial situation. “Previously, it didn’t matter whether you were rich or poor. After gaining independence, we changed our approach based on the economic capabilities of the country: it was decided not to help wealthy families, but to support those who truly need it,” he noted.

Although there are currently no resources to extend benefits to all children under 16, the president stated that he plans to implement this measure gradually.
