At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on agrarian policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection, MP Tabyldy Muratbekov expressed concern about a potential threat to food security related to foot-and-mouth disease among livestock.

He noted that there have been numerous complaints from residents of rural areas. People report increased temperatures in animals, lack of appetite, and even cases of livestock deaths.

In turn, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture Mirbek Duyshiev stated that there have been no officially registered cases of foot-and-mouth disease in the country. He added that the ministry is proactively purchasing vaccines for the prevention of diseases among animals.

“Perhaps you do not have complete information or are mistaken. It is necessary to instruct the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture to provide data on the methods of treating livestock and the measures being taken to prevent the spread of the disease,” Muratbekov addressed the deputy minister.
