35-year-old Balendra Shah, known as a former rapper and ex-mayor of Kathmandu, has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal. He has become the youngest head of government in the country in recent decades and represents the Madhesi people, reports Reuters.
The ceremony during which the new Prime Minister took the oath took place at the presidential palace. The event was attended by diplomats and high-ranking officials, as well as more than 200 Hindu priests and Buddhist lamas.
Balendra Shah has already formed a new cabinet of ministers, which includes 14 members. The Minister of Finance is economist Swarnim Wagle, who was educated at Harvard.
