In Kyrgyzstan, there is a trend towards a decrease in the level of crime, as confirmed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee dedicated to issues of law and order and the fight against crime and corruption.
According to the deputy minister, both the number of initiated criminal cases and the number of accused individuals are decreasing. It should be noted that most crimes are committed by individuals with a criminal background.

Ashirkhodzhaev emphasized that in the current situation, where a person who has committed, for example, 10 thefts only receives a fine for each of the crimes, it is necessary to introduce stricter measures. He proposed a bill that implies that after two offenses, a more serious charge will be applied for the third violation.

According to the deputy minister, the return of the recidivism institution could serve as an effective preventive measure, as many crimes are committed by the same individuals. During the meeting, the committee reviewed and approved in the first reading amendments to the codes aimed at restoring the recidivism institution.
