Footballer died before the arrival of medics
Lionel Adams, a graduate of CSKA and a former defender of the youth national team of Russia, tragically died after falling from the window of a multi-story building in the Moscow region. In December, he had already survived an attack when he was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, as reported by "Sport-Express".
Information about the incident appeared on the evening of January 14. According to the Telegram channel "Mash na sporte", Adams fell from the window of the apartment of Timur Magomedov, a former player of Yalta's "Rubin", where he was visiting. Lionel's mother believes this was not an accident and suspects that her son became a victim of a crime.
The press service of CSKA noted in its statement:
"Today our graduate Lionel Adams left this world. He was only 31 years old. We express our sincere condolences to all relatives and friends. May the earth rest lightly upon him!" — the message reads.
Adams was in the spotlight with Magomedov in December when a brawl occurred in Zvenigorod, ending with his thigh injury.
"At first, the footballers drank at home, then went outside, where a quarrel and fight with strangers broke out. An attempt to separate them resulted in a passing driver, who intervened, also getting hurt. The driver pulled out a traumatic weapon and began shooting to escape the conflict. Later, the athletes went into a bar, where another fight occurred," reported the Telegram channel Mash.
Despite the injury, Lionel refused to contact the police at that time and did not document the assault.
Adams was born to a Nigerian father and a Russian mother. He played for various Russian clubs, such as "Yenisei", "Volga" (Tver), and "KAMAZ", as well as for teams in Kazakhstan ("Kaspiy", "Turana", "Zhetysu", "Shakhter Karaganda"), Belarus ("Isloch"), Armenia ("Banants", "Van"), Spain ("Cereseda"), Montenegro ("Buducnost"), Tajikistan ("Khujand"), and Kyrgyzstan ("Alga").
Lionel was also called up to the youth national team of Russia and played four matches. In 2016, he won the Armenian Cup with the team "Banants".
