During a vacation in São Paulo, Roberto Carlos, the 52-year-old former footballer, underwent a routine medical examination due to suspicions of a blood clot in his leg. During the examination, doctors were able to identify heart problems, which led to an immediate decision to perform surgery.

According to Spanish media, the operation, which was initially expected to take about 40 minutes, lasted almost three hours due to complications that arose. Nevertheless, Roberto Carlos's condition is currently assessed as stable, and he will remain in the hospital under medical supervision for a few more days.

Carlos himself expressed confidence in his condition, noting that he feels well and is under constant medical monitoring.

Roberto Carlos is one of the greatest left-backs in football history. During his career at "Real Madrid," he won four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. He played 127 matches for the Brazilian national team, became a two-time Copa América winner, and was a world champion in 2002.
