
According to field data collected by the Meteorological Organization, as of January 31, 73% of the country's territory is covered by snow.
In regions such as Uvs (Khovd, Malchin, Khargaas, Baruun-Turuun, Tsagaanhairkhan), Khovd (Uench, Altai), Zavkhan (Tsetsen-Uul, Bayantes, Nömrog, Tes, Asgat, Bayankhairkhan), Govi-Altai (south of Tonkhil), Khövsgöl (Tsetsereg, Ulaan-Uul, Renchinlkhümbe, Alag-Erdene), Bulgan (Gurvanbulag, Dashinchilen), Selenge (Yeroo, Orkhontuul, Orkhon, etc.), as well as Darkhan-Uul (Sharyn-Gol, Khongor, Orkhon, Darkhan) and Töv (Bayanchandmani, Sümber, Jargalant), the snow thickness is over 21 cm, with a density ranging from 0.16 to 0.35 g/cm³.
In other regions, such as Uvs (Züünkhangaï, Tes, Züüngovi, etc.), Khovd (Bulgan), Zavkhan (Santmargats, Songino, etc.), Khövsgöl (Tsagaan-Üür, Tsagaan-Nuur), Bayankhongor (Jargalant), and Töv (Öndörshirëet, Lün, etc.), the snow thickness varies from 11 to 20 cm with a density of 0.11–0.30 g/cm³. In some areas, the snow cover thickness is less than 10 cm, with a density ranging from 0.07 to 0.37 g/cm³.

The highest amount of snow is observed in the somons of Khovd, Tsagaanhairkhan, Khargaas (Uvs aimag), as well as in the somons of Tsetsen-Uul, Bayantes, Nömrog (Zavkhan aimag), Tsetsereg, Alag-Erdene (Khövsgöl aimag), and in the somons of Yeroo, Orkhontuul, Orkhon, Khuder, Tsagaan-Nuur, Khushaat (Selenge aimag), where the snow thickness is 31-47 cm. Over the past ten days, the snow cover has decreased by 14%.
