The deaths of the Americans sparked mass protests across the country. According to human rights organizations, in just Minneapolis alone, at least 50,000 to 70,000 people participated in protests and strikes in recent weeks. Protests also spread to other major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
