
According to Jumakhonzoda, this issue is under discussion, and "we are confident that such measures will lead to positive results."
He noted that the visa-free regime is one of the methods to attract additional tourists to the country, along with the activation of advertising and informational campaigns.
“Tajikistan is focusing on several key tourist markets, including Arab countries, the UK, Germany, France, Russia, China, and South Korea, as citizens of these countries show a high interest in travel and recreation,” he added.
Jumakhonzoda also reported that in 2025, the country was visited by 1.784 million tourists, which is 27.5% more than in 2024, corresponding to 384,300 people.
Of the total number of tourists, 1.634 million arrived from CIS countries, while 149,900 came from far abroad. Among the five countries whose citizens most frequently chose Tajikistan were Uzbekistan (1.46 million people), Russia (396,475 people), Kyrgyzstan (137,530), Kazakhstan (37,288), and China (33,178).
Additionally, Tajikistan was included in the list of the 25 best tourist destinations in the world according to the international travel publication Lonely Planet in 2025. In the "Best in Travel 2026" ranking, the country was recommended as one of the most attractive places for mountain tourism.
According to information from the State Committee for Tourism, there are currently 191 registered tourist companies in the republic. Of these, 31 are located in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, 93 in Dushanbe, 42 in the Sughd Region, 15 in the Khatlon Region, and 10 in districts under republican jurisdiction.
