Emomali Rahmon condemned the terrorist attack on a mosque in Pakistan

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his deep condemnation regarding the terrorist attack that occurred on February 6 in Islamabad, where a suicide bomber attacked a Shia mosque, claiming the lives of dozens of people.

On the following day, February 7, Rahmon sent letters of condolence to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the press service of the President of Tajikistan reported.

“I ask the Almighty to grant mercy and forgiveness to the deceased, and to all the injured — a swift and complete recovery. Tajikistan firmly condemns this brutal terrorist act and emphasizes the necessity of an unconditional fight against terrorism,” the president's telegram stated.

According to the latest reports, 31 people died as a result of the attack, and 169 were injured. The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack.

According to media reports, the suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at the entrance of the mosque immediately after the Friday prayer had concluded.
