During his visit to the UK, Mongolia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinyam Gongor met with Julia Ann Hoggett, the CEO of the London Stock Exchange. They discussed issues related to facilitating the registration of Mongolian companies on the exchange, methods of attracting investments, and expanding the capabilities of the Mongolian exchange in the mining sector through new financial instruments. The minister reported this on his Facebook page.
The parties also agreed to use the stock market to transfer shares in mining projects to citizens through the Wealth Fund, as well as to enhance financial literacy and explore opportunities for cooperation in electronic trading platforms.
The London Stock Exchange, founded in 1801, is one of the largest global platforms. It features over 1,000 companies from more than 60 countries, with a total market capitalization exceeding $6 trillion. The mining sector constitutes about $700 billion of this capitalization.
The entry of Mongolian companies onto the London Stock Exchange will create conditions for attracting significant investments in new deposits, enhance the international status of Mongolian projects, and open new financial horizons for the entire industry and the country's population.
In recent years, Mongolia has attracted huge volumes of investment from around the world, and many international corporations note its appeal for large investments, contributing to economic development and profit generation from investments.
