The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) reported that they suspect the head of one of the parliamentary factions in the Verkhovna Rada of corruption (part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Offering, promising, or providing unlawful benefits to an official").
According to the anti-corruption authorities, the suspect offered bribes to deputies in exchange for votes "for" or "against" certain bills.
The name of the politician is not disclosed in the official statements of NABU and SAP.
However, publications such as "Ukrainska Pravda," "Suspilne," and "Ukrainian BBC Service" refer to sources claiming that it concerns Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the "Batkivshchyna" party. So far, Tymoshenko and her associates have not made any comments on this matter. On the evening of January 13, searches were conducted at the "Batkivshchyna" office in Kyiv.
The publication "Obozrevatel" also reports that the leader of the presidential party "Servant of the People," David Arahamiya, is being considered in the investigation.
As noted by "Ukrainska Pravda," in July 2025, Tymoshenko's faction almost unanimously supported a bill to eliminate the independence of NABU and SAP. Later, it was one of the few factions that did not support the restoration of the powers of the anti-corruption authorities.
At the end of December last year, NABU and SAP conducted an undercover operation, during which an organized criminal group consisting of current people's deputies of Ukraine was uncovered. The investigation claims that the group members systematically used their powers to gain unlawful benefits when voting on bills in the Verkhovna Rada.
