Police officers of the Uzgen ROVD beat detainees so severely that one has brain swelling, - GKNB

The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) has shared new data regarding the case related to the detention of three employees of the Uzgen Department of Internal Affairs.

Previously, the Prosecutor's Office of the Osh region initiated a criminal case, qualifying the actions of the police officers under articles 130 part 3 item 2 ("Causing serious harm to health") and 338 part 2 item 4 ("Abuse of power") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to GKNB information, on January 3, employees of the Uzgen Department of Internal Affairs conducted an illegal detention of two citizens without proper documentation and took them to the Kurshab Police Station. According to the investigation's version, they used physical force, which resulted in severe injuries to one of the detainees, including a closed traumatic brain injury and cerebral edema.

As a result, S.H., I.u.K., and A.A. were placed in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB's pre-trial detention center.

An investigation is currently underway.

The GKNB urges citizens to report cases of abuse of official powers and other unlawful actions.
