According to data presented by the National Statistical Office on Saturday, December 17, at the end of the month, the average price per square meter of new buildings in Ulaanbaatar was ₮5.03 million (about $1412), which is 10.8% higher than in the same month last year.
At the same time, another trend has been recorded: the average cost per square meter of secondary housing in Ulaanbaatar reached ₮5.06 million ($1420) in December, indicating an increase of 13.6% compared to December 2024.
Experts note that this price increase is due to the heightened demand for housing per capita.
Mongolia holds the position of the least populated country in the world, and the issue of affordable housing remains extremely relevant here, especially in the capital, where more than half of the country's 3.5 million citizens are concentrated.
Owning housing for the youth in Mongolia has become associated with stability and dignity. However, this is not merely a desire or luxury, but a vital necessity. Thus, many strive to find an apartment near educational institutions to ensure their families have safe and comfortable living conditions.
The state must respect, protect, and support every citizen's right to adequate, safe, and decent housing.
