According to Foro Penal, the released group includes members of the Venezuelan opposition as well as five citizens of Spain. The head of the organization, Alfredo Romero, noted that human rights defenders continue to verify the identities of all those released. This is not the first instance of prisoner releases since the U.S. began to apply pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. On Friday, interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez stated that the total number of released prisoners exceeds 600; however, Foro Penal considers this figure to be inflated.
