As reported by Politico, citing sources in the U.S. administration, Washington expects Delsi Rodriguez to take steps in the interests of the American side that her predecessor did not undertake. In particular, the new government is being asked to intensify the fight against drug trafficking, expel Iranian, Cuban, and other so-called "hostile agents to Washington," as well as to stop selling oil to U.S. rival countries.
Moreover, other sources from Politico indicate an expectation from Rodriguez to organize elections in Venezuela and her subsequent departure from office. However, no specific deadlines for these requirements have been established.
Previously, Trump stated that elections in Venezuela would not take place within 30 days, as he believed it was necessary to "restore order in the country" first.
According to sources from the publication, the U.S. has a range of military and economic pressure tools, including possible easing of sanctions and granting access to Rodriguez's financial assets, which are reportedly located in the capital of Qatar.

Initially, Rodriguez sharply condemned Washington's actions and demanded Maduro's release; however, later she reached out to Trump with a statement that Venezuelans "deserve peace, not war," and invited the U.S. government to cooperate.
