Previously, Donald Trump, responding to reporters' questions aboard Air Force One, stated that Rodriguez must provide the U.S. with "full access" to her country's resources. In an interview with The Atlantic on January 4, he warned that Delcy Rodriguez "will pay a very high price" if she refuses to cooperate with Washington. "If she doesn't make the right decisions, she will have to pay a very high price, possibly even higher than Maduro," he noted.
It is worth recalling that on January 3, the Supreme Court of Venezuela appointed Delcy Rodriguez as the interim head of state. This decision was made after several American special forces detained and transported President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, from Venezuela to New York. The U.S. intends to hold Maduro accountable on charges of "narcoterrorism."
