In an interview provided to Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump praised the actions of the interim government led by Delcy Rodríguez, noting that “they have shown greatness... Everything we asked for, they did.”
Jorge Rodríguez, Delcy's brother and head of the National Assembly of Venezuela, confirmed the release of a “significant number” of prisoners.
“This is a step by the Venezuelan government aimed at achieving peace,” he added.
It should be noted that on the night of January 3, explosions were heard in Caracas. As a result of a special operation by the U.S. Air Force, Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured and forcibly taken to a prison in New York.
The former president of Venezuela faces serious charges, including leading the criminal organization Cartel de los Soles, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in the U.S., as well as conspiracy with Colombian drug cartels.
Additionally, Maduro is accused of trafficking Venezuelan diplomatic passports and using criminal gangs to eliminate competitors in the market.
