In a recent interview on Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump shared his intention to meet with Maria Machado next week, reports Meduza.

When Sean Hannity asked Trump about the possibility of accepting the Nobel Peace Prize from Machado if she decides to award it to him, the president replied, "I heard she wants to do that. It would be a great honor for me."

Interestingly, after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on January 3, Trump did not support Machado. According to The Washington Post, this is related to the fact that in 2025, Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which Trump also dreamed of. Although Machado dedicated her award to Trump, her decision to accept the prize sparked discontent and was called "the greatest sin."

Trump denied any connection between Machado's Nobel Prize award and his actions regarding Venezuela, although he noted that she "should not have won." In response to Maduro's overthrow, Machado told Fox News about her willingness to either hand her Nobel Prize to Trump or share it with him.
