
In 2025, Kyrgyzstan is witnessing a positive trend in infant mortality. This was reported by the Minister of Health Kanbek Dosmambetov at a meeting of his department's board.
According to him, the infant mortality rate was 13.5 cases per 1,000 live births, which is a decrease of 4.2% compared to the previous year.
Despite the improvement in indicators, the structure of the causes of infant mortality remains unchanged. Diseases of the perinatal period still occupy the first place, accounting for 65.7% of all cases, which corresponds to 1,224 children. Congenital developmental anomalies hold the second position with 15.5% (289 cases), while respiratory diseases are in third place, making up 8.2% (152 cases).
At the same time, according to Dosmambetov, in 2025 there is an increase in infant mortality from infectious and parasitic diseases by 28.1%.
