

In 2025, an increase in cases of maternal mortality was observed in Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov during a meeting of his department.
According to his information, 48 cases of maternal mortality were registered this year, which corresponds to a rate of 34.8 per 100,000 live births. This is 35.4% more than the previous year, when 36 cases were recorded, corresponding to 25.7 per 100,000.
The minister emphasized that maternal and child mortality rates are important indicators of the state of the healthcare system and must remain a focus, as they directly impact the preservation of the lives of women and newborns.

The minister also noted the importance of enhancing telemedicine consultations and implementing prenatal screening.
“Preventing complications, timely hospitalization, and access to qualified care must be a priority,” he added.At the Ministry of Health meeting, it was also reported that infant mortality in Kyrgyzstan decreased in 2025. This figure was 13.5 cases per 1,000 live births, which is 4.2% lower than last year. However, the structure of causes of infant mortality remained the same, although there is an increase in cases related to infectious and parasitic diseases.
