At a recent meeting of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, the main priorities for work in 2026 were defined.
The Minister of Health, Kanbek Dosmambetov, reported on key areas, including the modernization of the healthcare system, updating medical infrastructure, ensuring the population has access to quality and affordable medicines and medical devices, as well as developing human resources in the healthcare sector.
Among the main tasks for 2026 are the reduction of maternal and infant mortality, a review of the cancer treatment program with a focus on accessible diagnostics and therapy, as well as measures to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases by strengthening primary healthcare and expanding preventive measures.
The Minister emphasized the importance of prevention, which implies a shift from treating diseases to forming a healthy society. This includes not only early detection of diseases but also promoting a healthy lifestyle, preventing risk factors, and increasing citizens' responsibility for their own health.

Speaking about cancer and cardiovascular diseases, the minister noted that effective treatment requires a systematic approach at all stages—from prevention and screening to specialized medical care and rehabilitation.
Plans for 2026 also include the establishment of a new state laboratory service, updating clinical protocols, improving quality control and financial discipline, along with developing digital solutions to enhance transparency in processes and improve management efficiency in the healthcare system.
